Is Torreta 111 finally to be taken in charge by the Town Hall?

I saw that article Carl and it is very disheartening to read about the double speak of the PP. Saying one thing and making promises and then doing an about turn. Hopefully for the Torretas area money will be made available to put in the necessary infrastructures.

Very sad state of affairs Bee, and this is a classic example of why the public do not trust politicians or even feel that voting at the ballot box will bring about change.

I wonder why there is a reluctance on the part of the council to accept Torreta ? They cannot be the only urbanisation over all the years of construction where the developer never fulfilled their obligations ? What happened to the other urbanisations ?

According to this article in today's Costa Blanca News, seems like the law firm representing the residents believes they have an agreement with the Council for a way forward, although silence from the Council may indicate otherwise - time will tell.

When I arrived in Torrevieja, almost 20 years ago , I bought my first house on Toretta 111.
I had 12 very happy years there ( it's a great community ), before moving to La Siesta .
One other feature that doesn't improve the urbanisation , and this is mainly guess work on my part .
While there are many well maintained houses, that are generally lived in most of the year .
There are equally some properties that have been empty , in all that time, and have fallen into a bad state of repair .
I'm assuming , that from 1983 - 1986, when the urbanisation was completed , the majority of the houses were sold to recently retired people , of many nationalities .
It's fair to assume that given the passage of time now passed , that the original owners have died .
Therelies , the dilemma .
The offspring of these people , either have no desire to take over the properties , given the inheritance tax they would have to pay ( up front ), or just aren't interested in having a holiday home here .
I know of one instance , where a friend of mine did inherit a Toretta bungalow .
It finally cost her €10,000 euros to take over ownership , despite it being legally left to her in a Will.
A bit ironic, considering when originally built - these bungalows were bought brand new for a similar amount of money .
