ah...but.... the hydraulic hob doesn't really cook food - it just lifts it up and down a few times...

It does , it cooks by Friction, a bit like rubbing two sticks together. :roll
It tends to wear the pan bottoms a bit thin though.

You're right vino. especially the wooden pans ( the guy in the chinese shop sold me them too ) but the good thing is - they catch fire before they get too thin
