We had Panasonic invertors installed in 1999 but over time they became less and less efficient like yours.
When we approached our installer three years ago about them he said that the gas was no longer available for our units so we had to have new ones installed.

A lot of owners on our urb have air con unit covers. Just make sure that they are proper ones and well secured, !

Id say its really for people who only use the apartment on short time basis as to people who are residents

Sorry I am joining this thread late, but just wondering about this covering of the air con units.

I assume that the covering of the outside unit is to stop the build up of dirt and debris on the unit which would be ingested once the unit is switched on if it had not been used for a while ?

The only problem I have experienced is birds nesting in one of my units. Didn't realise there was a nest in the unit until I switched it on one Summer to see dust,twigs and feathers fly out. Luckily the birds had already vacated the nest. Think the must have gained entered the unit through a missing ccess panel

Whilst I am posting on this thread I do have a question about the outside wall brackets the units stand on. Has anyone ever had the brackets replaced without the air con unit ? The brackets my units are on have been rusty (possibly just cosmetically) for years, and even those installed a couple of years ago with a new installation went the same way within months. Anyone had experience of these brackets failing because of fatigue ?
