The Mayor gave the following statistics on his webchat yesterday. I had not heard the expression "a silver bridge" before.

Torrevieja is recognized in Spain and Europe for its high percentage of housing for tourist use, with a maximum capacity of 250,000 people. In addition, it has 7,000 tourist apartment spaces compared to only 2,000 hotel beds.

The mayor also announced that his administration is going to speed up the construction of tourist homes and for this he has appointed a general director, an official, so that in two years the red tape is expedited. "We cannot take so long to process applications (...) We must put a silver bridge so that anyone who decides to invest in Torrevieja, complying with all the guarantees, can do so and put their investment project in the city as they are the true generators of employment, and construction for us is a very necessary epicenter ”.

Wonder if using the term "tourist homes" makes it more palatable for the residents of the tourism driven town to hear, as opposed to we need to build more homes.

There is already ongoing contruction work in the residential sector in Torrevieja, as well as surplus new and resale homes unsold, so is the demand actually there ?

I'm sure I read somewhere last year that there was no more land left for residential building?

There are plans to build on the square of land bordering the CV-905 opposite Torretas/El Limonar, the Torrevieja end of El Chaparral, the auditorium and the Sector 5 road.
