Coffee Beans

I am thinking of investing in an espresso machine rather than the pod machine that I have now. Where in Torrevieja can I buy coffee beans please.?Does anyone have an espresso machine that can give some recommendations for a machine to buy and hints for brewing a good cup of coffee.

We used to have a small Delonghi machine, and just used the Mezlca Coffee Beans. All supermarkets sell coffee beans, you just have to buy different ones till you find the one you like................

The Bonka coffee beans from Nescafe or Lavazzo but people's taste in coffee differs greatly. I hate cleaning machines so its a cafetiere for me every time.

I agree but I hate cleaning cafetieres as well (have you ever smelled old coffee grindings that stick in the u-bend - gross!), and the 'grit' gets in your coffee. So it's a simple filter that sits on top of your mug for me, along with a filter paper that is easily thrown away.

I really prefer the taste of espresso coffee which is why I used to use a pod machine.
I am trying to do my bit to reduce the unnecessary use of plastics so I have bought an excellent German espresso machine, not very expensive, and a coffee bean grinder.
It makes really good tasting coffee using the normal mezcla beans from Carrefour, but not the rich taste that I prefer. If there is no specialist coffee store in the Torrevieja area, I will have to resort to online where I can buy in 125g bags until I find one that suits.

just for info...Arabica coffee beans come in very many variants, and you need to find what suits you.
Apparently after roasting and grinding the coffee can go stale after about Three days...so freshness is the keyword.

Boiling water can scald the coffee.

To find what suits you can add sugar, honey, cream,milk,alcohol, etc etc...its all good.

I was interested to find that the coffee plant originated in Ethiopia, was first brewed in Yemen, and the fruit of the plant at its best is like a cherry, which is picked when ruby red, and then hulled to get to the green bean.
Plants were stolen or given as gifts, and thus found their way to many lands, India, Columbia, Brazil etc, thus we have the multitude of variants, and qualities.

There are people trained as Q testers who rate the various beans...the higher the rating, the higher the price that can be achieved.

I was always a tea drinker, but for some strange reason, about a year ago, in Spain, I developed a taste for black coffee, whether filtered, in a cafetiere, or even some brands of instant!
I take it with a couple of sweeteners, and have up to three cups in the morning to get me going.

For me tea will always be No 1. I just couldn't face coffee first thing in the morning. Tea, marmalade and toast is manna from heaven.

..as I said, Bee...it was the same for me, tea every time,..for over 50 years....then arrived in Spain with no milk in the fridge...couldn@t face black tea, so made a black coffee!
Don't know what happened but I have not had a cup of tea since....strange but true....

Not a Costa Coffee person, though....

I have the Nescafe pod machine, I bought a few plastic reusable pods off eBay, you just fill them with ground coffee, pop into the machine and you get a freshly brewed coffee, a fraction of the price of the pods as well, and saving plastic too! Win! Win!!
