There is also the L2 bus from Alicante @22:00 and 22:30 Mon-Fri, @21:45 and 22:45 Sat, Sun and bank holidays.
That's according to their timetable!

Can only assume that there must be some constraint on Costa Azul as to why they cannot provide the service any later at night.

Just for comparison, I looked at the direct airport bus service that Alsa provides to/from Benidorm. Alsa's last departure on weekdays from the airport and also Benidorm is currently 22:00 and 20:00 on weekends.

The C6 bus into Alicante runs all night. Maybe they could divert the 2 late buses from Alicante to nip into the airport on the way to Torrevieja. I will have a nose at the bus timetables posted at the airport today

There does seem to be a few odd rules at the airport, as in you can't buy any alcohol including duty free alcohol after 10pm! Apparently its to do with local bylaws.
