Yes, when you consider that more people have been murdered by murderers released from prison than 'innocent' (allegedly) people hanged.
Good comment, but then life should mean life, with no chance of parole, as in America in many cases.

Personally I think with that sentence it's better to just put them down and get it over with.
But even in prison, convicted murderers have still managed to murder or seriously injure prison guards and other prisoners. They may end up in prison for life, but why should others have to risk their own lives looking after them?

There's no chance of it being reinstated in the UK and regardless of the fact that it is extremely unlikely that an innocent person will be hung, in fact I could only find two instances .. Walter Rowland in 1947 and Timothy Evans in 1950 were executed and later found to be innocent, many people think it's totally wrong to kill another person whether it's by lawful execution or willful murder, and in some ways you have to respect that opinion, although it's very simplistic one.

What about the liverpool driver who mowed his van into the crowd and injured more than 70 people ??
Should he be jailed with a slap on the wrist, at least one child is in a serious condition
I was just reading about the trial and i am a bit confused
There is a photo of him nearly bald and yet the artists impression shows him with a mop of hair and the paper says , quote , 'His hair was scruffy and unkempt and he looked startled by the 50 or so journalists, police, court staff and Crown prosecutors packing out Court 3-6, on the third floor of the building''
I am no sherlock holmes but he seems to have grown that hair miraculously unless he is wearing a syrup of fig ??https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/20621 ... d9d6e4d5e0

Sovereign states have killed for thousands of years. Ask the people of Ukraine whether it's lawful or wrong to kill others; I bet their opinions have changed over the last couple of years.

Yes I know about other countries and some execute people at the drop of a hat, but it's no different to the states in America who don't have capital punishment. Their ethos is the same, killing is wrong no matter what.

So if killing is wrong, no matter what, then 'their'(?) ethos is that it was wrong for Britain and the Allies to fight Nazi Germany?

You need to ask a Conscientious Objector that question. I'm an eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth man, and I believe that, if you, with premeditation, commit the ultimate crime, then you must pay the ultimate penalty. Simple as that.

But being a man of the world, I accept that other people have a different opinion to mine, especially when it comes to emotive and contentious issues like Capital Punishment, as long as any differing opinions are articulated in an adult, sensible manner.

So I reiterate. Many people believe that killing a human being is wrong under any circumstances.

With the way the world is today, there will soon be no human race to kill
I hope it lasts till I get my telegram for celebrating a Century only a few more years to go now, single figures now
