Support For Windows 10 Will End In October 2025

I just received this warning this morning when I switched the laptop on, but looking around the internet it would appear that Microsoft started a phased process of informing users about this a month ago.

You can continue using old versions of Windows as long as you're aware that there will be no more patches and fixes so you're far more vulnerable to viruses etc. You just have to be more careful.

That's well over a year away. I will carry on using Win10 for as long as possible. I do get fed up with the prompts from MS, about upgrading to Win11

Just imagine how much money Microsoft makes
In doing so.
I believe updates have a hidden agenda too,
To slow down your computer until you get so fed up
You buy a new one !

I have a 10 year old PC that has never been updated
and it works just as fast as my latest new one.
It's going to be hard for Bullies to stop what they are so good at.😁😁

Same has been said about every version of Windows but in reality the risks are minimal.
Most security updates address issues so obscure or esoteric that they only concern corporate users not Joe public.

Along with many I'm still using W7 on most of my devices and never a problem. My newest laptop (now 6 years old) is running W10 but only because that's what it came with and it proved not feasible to downgrade to W7 as suitable drivers were not available, I know because I tried it the day after I bought it!

A lot of devices will prove impossible to upgrade anyway as W11 enforces Secure Boot which not all will be equipped with also not all CPU's are supported so that would mean buying a new machine. Yes there are some potential workarounds for those but they way too geeky for most.

DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE HYPE!

Probably because like me he's not allowed them!

The only updates I ever allow, and then selectively, is when the first Service Sack comes along which can be a year or more after the release of a new version.

Test your machine here.

Unlike Microsoft's basic Yes/No test if not compatible this one tells you why!

usually, you can purchase update packages then again that might not be possible with Windows 10, the major issue will be with compliance requirements.
