Local Holiday - Torrevieja - Monday 8 April 2024

Please be aware that Monday in Torrevieja is a local holiday (San Vicente Ferrer), some shops may be closed etc.

Perhaps somewhat confusing GVA Salud Torrevieja put out this, with a date of the 9th.

Just to add Torrevieja Television reported health centres will be closed, with the exception of La Loma, on the 8th and 9th.

So not quite sure whether Salud Torrevieja assumed everyone knew the medical centres would be closed on 8th, and are just making people aware that they will also take an additional holiday on the 9th.

or

Salud Torrevieja got the date wrong, and their communication should have said the 8th not the 9th.

Never heard of the fish finger sandwich. I presume it would be on white bread. Would you toast it? I think I would need a large dollop of HP or tomato sauce to give it flavour. Fish fingers are one thing that the Aldi and Lidl brand get very wrong. Absolutely no flavour. Can't beat Bird's Eye. By the way R my steak of choice is Rib Eye.

Can only assume that you must have had a deprived childhood, if you have never had a fish finger sandwich.

Certainly agree that you need a proper cod fish finger, not the pollock ones

We have many friends and family in Ireland, North and South and on a visit to friends in Ballymoney a few years ago, along with the usual tea, and a full three teir cake stand, we were offered Mars bar and apple sandwiches.

It seems to be a Protestant thing and the fruit varies town to town.

Larne, for instance, prefer bananas, whilst orange is the preferred fruit in Magharafelt

Don't knock it until you try it, but it is an aquired taste, and all I can say is, thank goodness we were'nt over there long enough to aquire one.

I think I will give the Mars Bar sandwich a miss. I hate Mars Bars. That must be a variation of the battered Mars Bar in Scotland. I will try the Fish Finger Sarnie with Helmanns Mayo as I am not gone on the Tartar Sauce.

Fish fingers didn’t exist when I was growing up. Think they became popular in the 1970’s. Captain Birdseye.
I live near Ballymoney and I too have encountered the Mars Bar and Apple sandwiches. It was a shock to me having been reared in the south.
The only steak I enjoy is a fillet but believe me, when I buy good mince steak, add breadcrumbs, onions, herbs, salt and pepper ( nowadays I add chilli flakes). Mix well, toss in flour and put onto the pan and cook, my husband wouldn’t call the king his uncle!! Delicious. I make them pretty large. Occasionally, once browned,I’ll add a little water, put a lid over and let the steam do its work. He flour on the Pattie thickens into a sauce.
