Merry Christmas.

#1

Post: # 44497Post Brandyboy »

Coming to yet another year and in this lead up to Christmas I thought I'd get in first and would like to wish all our members, old and new, a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and of course that wish extends to our hardworking Admin, Carl.

Not many people realise just how much work he puts into this forum, but just take quck look through all twenty two sections and you will see Carls input, whether it's posting delicious cooking recipes, devising impossible games and riddles and deleting my threads.

We are just a small forum started on 18 October 2019 by a member of another demised forum which will be familiar to many of us who are still here and to those who have been booted off.

But in spite of competition from the likes of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc we have made a steady growth since 18 October 2019, and to date we have 252 members, of whom 30 joined this year, an average of over 2 a month. Not a vast amount some would, say but a steady growth nonetheless.

Of course compared to the likes of Talk Quesada, we are very small fry and they with nearly 16,000 users and an inception date of 7 Sept 2011 and with new members this year number in their hundreds, ... a head start of nine years, you can see why.

But in spite of our vastly different sizes, we both have two things in common ... friendly members and fair, robust and hands on Adminstration /Moderation.

Some other forums have not had any new members for nearly two years.

As an analogy, I regard prospective members as people deciding to jump in a swimming pool.

If it's nice and clean, not too busy, but looks inviting and friendly, in you go.

If it's nice and clean, very busy but looks interesting, in you go.

But if its virtually empty, green, smelly, and full of crap and obviously not maintained at all, ( with sixteen consecutive threads about the same member !!) then you will give it a miss.

I think our little forum comes under category one, number three is obvious.

So onwards and upwards and a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. :santa:  :champion:

Yes thank you Carl and seasons greetings to you and yours and a Happy Christmas and here's to a more peaceful 2024. It is hard to muster up any enthusiasm when we see what is going on in the birthplace of Christmas for believers and non believers alike. So much sorrow and so much needless heartache. My fervent wish for 2024 is for the demize of all those old failed corrupt grey haired men in politics.

To all of you wherever you are, and whatever your beliefs I wish you all a really happy holidays.

My thoughts and wishes for 2024 are just that we see an end to many conflicts around the world. Mans inhumanity to man beggars belief.

My thanks to Carl for all the work he puts into running this forum, it is appreciated, can I just ask for one quiz where I know more than two answers๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€
