Not sure this idea will take off (pardon the pun). Even Mr Ryanair has already shared his views.

Having spare seats between passengers is probably the only way you can have social distancing on a plane, however one seat apart is not the equivalent distance that is currently being recommended.

Cabin crew would still need to walk through the aisle for safety checks so would be unable to do social distancing, but perhaps the inflight service would be scrapped to save unnecessary trips through the aisle ?

Toilets off limits ?

Loading and unloading of passengers would be time consuming.

You would assume that ticket prices would be higher to cover the empty seats, but maybe that cost could be offset against reduced fuel costs as the planes will be lighter.

What happens to flights already booked months in advance, does easyjet cancel the tickets of all those seated in the middle seats or to make it more fair cancel all tickets for a flight and get people to rebook.

They can't do it, how are two people sat opposite in the aisle seats are going to be 2 metres apart as the aisle is not 2 metres wide??? And the middle seat is not 2 metres wide either. Not going to happen. If the airlines try it, then pubs, restaurants will say why can the airlines allow it yet the bars etc can't???
