Virgin are only good for WhatsApp in Spain really, the most useless company ever. I think 02 are the same who purchased them but my brother tells me they restrict speeds to almost zero as well.
I have dvblab in Villamartin via a dish and their speed is about 6 to 10mbs. Other people, via a dish tell me nolimit.eu or something or the other has 30mb. I also have a dish on the roof of the place above shared and paid for between my neighbour and me that has basic TV channels for free. We were offered fiber for the development but was going to be via posts and no one could agree with where the posts were going so it never happened, not near my house type of response but it would of been ugly I have to say.

Really I'm on Virgin and my wife O2, without any particular issues all over Spain, France, yes subject sometimes to a weakish signal but that's down to Spanish company you are roaming with.

Again another "really" we spent last night high up above Alicante in the middle of nowhere, and watched two episodes of "The English" using the fire stick to stream iPlayer using a mobile with an O2 SIM card. Absolutely no problems at all.

At the moment I'm just outside Murcia using my Tablet through my Virgin mobile hot spot, which is running Nord VPN. I've just done a speed test and it's just under 10mps download, which is not rocket speeds but more than adequate for my use on the road.

I have shares in Sat dish using a Gi box to watch free to air in our apartment, I'm just not that happy sharing, all of the original group bar us have moved on. I really just want to be in control l guess. Luckily our urb is fully fibre optic all underground to the distribution room 8n the garages.

Have you had Virgin for a long time? I just ask as three of us have virgin in my house and we all have issues in Spain with their roaming service speed, unless they have changed their policy in recent months. Of course, no issues with my WiFi dish.witj a local provider.

Been with them about 5 years now.
Download speeds do vary by location. Currently sat in the Nautilus Punta Prima and getting 4ish MPs. Amazon recommend at least 2 for streaming non hd.

We both have O2 mobile phone contracts with no charge for call roaming at all. Thankfully.

We pay €23.99 per month with Avatel. Problems arise when we arrive during one month and go home the next. Even if we were only staying for 3 weeks, we get charged for 2 months.

In truth,if you can afford it, it’s well worth every penny. It’s like home for home. Years ago, we had to attempt to pick up messages while having a coffee and availing if their WiFi. For years, we carried our Sky box with us and connected up. If there was heavy rain, we had no tv. With the internet, we can use our Firestick, Netflix and Amazon. No pixilation. Perfect picture.
Owning a property in Spain is a luxury and costs a lot of money. That’s how it is. Some people don’t care less about watching tv but others do.

We have a sky dish, box and remote free to anyone who’d like it. We no longer have any use for it.

Just a quick update as we are now back and sorted.

Avatel have taken over Vega Fibre and another and our now Flexi net. They have taken Vegas business model and now their on/off package is just pay for the days you want, no monthly fees. Installation Wednesday.

Are their daily rates the same as what I posted? I had to ring them to turn it on last week for our place and they have changed how you pay. I received a link to click and pay. All very fast. My niece was staying and she is a bit of a tech nerd so I was interested to see what she thought. She did a speed test and got this result. So quite fast

I got a lobster SIM, you can start and stop daily via an app. Can have data only or mobile phone calls as well etc. Under €9 for 25gb data per month on slight offer. Can have 80gb package. If you are in Spain for 2 months a year it will only cost €20 a year or so. They use the movistar network.You need to 'top up' or pay once every 12 months.

It wouldn't really work for us to be honest, looking to use the fire stick to stream UK television which would chew through that sort of gigabyte very quickly.

We have 60g through our UK phones on roaming.
