Use Of Japanese Currency Yen Symbol In A Surname In Spain

Anyone come across the use of the Japanese currency Yen symbol in a surname ? If so, what does it equate to in letters.

Just curious as I checked a receipt today and the cashier's surname contained the Yen symbol. It is possible I suppose that it is done for staff personal security purposes so their exact surname is not revealed to customers.

I haven't seen it. Sometimes the computer can do it if it comes across a symbol when copying across text. I am more inclined to think it's a mistake that was just left.

Yen is a Chinese surname, maybe that's one way of displaying it.

Did not think about that possibility of a sort of computer glitch, assumed that the computerised till software these day would be able to cope with any issues surrounding letters with tildes or special characters.

Happened to check a Spanish QWERTY keyboard today, and the Yen symbol does not appear on any of the keys so appears not to be something the Spanish would use ordinarily.

That is the symbol I mean Fred but as you have probably noticed when you copied from elsewhere on the net, it loses one of the two horizontal lines that the Yen symbol has when it is pasted into a post/thread on this forum. I had originally included the symbol in my original post, but deleted it because of this. A little quirk in the phpBB software.
