Air Conditioning
Air Conditioning
Would it be recommendable to get this in a 2 bed apartment that is used about 6-8 weeks a year in February or March. Early June end of August - September
Or would this be a waste considering the amount of time only used ,
I’d appreciate your views
Thanks

Re: Air Conditioning
We have had a 2 bed apt since 2002 and personally wouldn't be without it and this includes buying new units again in 2016.
We have the units sited in both bedrooms, when required in lounge area we open the small bedroom door and allow air to drift through and it is then comfortable in the lounge.
It is also worth knowing that these units are one of the most economical ways of providing heat in the colder months.
In my own opinion as we only use the place in similar timescales to yourselves, I didn't pay out for the more expensive Samsung/Mitsubishi units which would probably cost €800/900 fitted, we had a fitter from the Villamartin area fit 2 units for €550 each and they have been brilliant.
This is just my opinion, someone else may see it differently.

Re: Air Conditioning
I agree with what KenBo has said about the aircon the inverta ones are more expensive but are cheaper to run. Alan.
Re: Air Conditioning
Just to add to Alan's reference to inverter units, I should have mentioned that the price quoted above are for inverter units which provide hot and cold air but the main thing with inverters is their economy.
Re: Air Conditioning
Yes I was quoted 1140. Can't put it in small bedroom do it's in lounge and large bedroom,
I would go for inverters
And keep doors and windows closed

Re: Air Conditioning
1140 seems fair enough. I don't think that you will regret it once they are in.
Re: Air Conditioning
I would say aircon is a must during July, August and September. We have only 1 unit in living room which cools living room, bathroom, kitchen area, balcony and 2 bedrooms with all internal doors open. We could do with a second unit in the large bedroom. It goes without saying you have to close up every window or you are only drawing in hot air. We run ours at 21degs throughout the night but never in the daytime. It is a Panasonic Inverter. Our compressor is inside on the back balcony and we just leave balcony windows open to take out the steam and its also handy for sitting the water bottle on the floor under the compressor. Have a think about where you want to site the units which will depend on where your compressor is located. Make sure your compressor can't drip water on your neighbours as this leads to a lot of aggro.
