Can someone help me with a question I have about wise (were Transferwise).
I use them to make sterling transfers to my account with Sabadell and have just completed one today. Checking my account with Sabadell I noticed that they have put their quarterly fee up to 40 euros a month.
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to set direct debits up directly with wise to pay my Spanish bills and, if so, what account/card am I looking for to make this happen with them? As a non-resident am I able to have whatever the account would be with wise?
I think 160 euros a year for Sabadell to make a few automated payments on my behalf is a bit steep so if it is possible to transfer the direct debits to wise I will open that account and do so when I can finally get back to Spain.
Many thanks
I closed my Spanish bank account due to the ridiculous charges and now only have my UK bank account from where I transfer money into my Wise account.
I pay all my Spanish utility bills from my Transferwise Borderless account.
At a quick look you do not get free cash withdrawals though,.bank ATM fees, plus their fees, not looked at other fees yet:
If your card was issued in Europe or the UK: You can take out money for free twice a month — as long as it’s under 200 GBP/EUR. But after that, we’ll charge you 0.50 GBP/EUR per transaction. This is a fixed fee. If you take out over 200 GBP/EUR in one month, we’ll charge you 1.75% on top of that.
If you have the currency that you are spending in account, there is no fee to use the card
Its only if you are withdrawing cash, or they have to convert into the currency that you need, then you pay a fee.
Spend in currencies in your account Free
First 2 ATM withdrawals up to £200 / month Free
ATM withdrawals over £200 / month
1.75%
Over 2 ATM withdrawals / month
50p / withdrawal
There's a small fee to convert currencies — either within your account, or when you pay with your Wise debit card in a currency you're not holding in your account.

Still going to be cheaper than Sabbadell - many thanks to all who have offered advice.
